Membrane Switch Graphic Overlays

Stocked nationwide. Same-day shipping on stock. Custom slitting, sheeting, and cut-to-size.

Membrane switch graphic overlays demand a film that holds register through second-surface printing, embossing, and lamination — which is exactly where polyester delivers. K&R stocks dimensionally stable Mylar/PET film in the thin mil gauges overlay shops run, in autotex-style textured and clear hard-coat finishes, and ships same-day on stock from five distribution warehouses with custom cut-to-size and slit-to-width done in house.

Frequently asked questions

Why use polyester film for membrane switch overlays?
Polyester (Mylar/PET) is dimensionally stable and high-temp, so it holds tight registration through second-surface printing, embossing, and the heat and pressure of lamination. That stability is what keeps multi-color graphics and key windows aligned over the membrane stack — paper and most films can't hold the same tolerance.
What gauge polyester is standard for graphic overlays?
Overlays are thin-gauge work measured in mils. .005–.0075 (5–7.5 mil) is the common range for printed and embossed overlays, with .010 used where a stiffer faceplate is needed. We stock the thin mil gauges overlay fabricators specify rather than full rigid sheet.
Do you stock textured and hard-coat polyester finishes?
Yes. We carry velvet/textured (autotex-style) film for fingerprint-resistant, low-glare keypads, anti-glare matte, and clear hard-coat grades that resist abrasion from repeated actuation. Selective texture and dead-front effects are achievable with the right film and print sequence.
Can you cut and slit film to a custom size?
Yes — we slit to width and sheet to size in house, so you can order film at the exact web width or blank dimension your overlay run needs instead of trimming master rolls.
