Frequently asked questions

What gauge HIPS is best for screen-printed displays?
For most indoor displays, .040 high-impact polystyrene gives a flat, rigid panel that runs well on screen presses. Lighter .020–.030 is common for shelf talkers and litho-mount work; .060 is used for larger free-standing or die-cut display pieces that need more body.
Can HIPS be used outdoors?
HIPS is an indoor substrate. High-impact polystyrene is economical and easy to print, die-cut, and form, but it isn't UV- or weather-stable for outdoor use. For outdoor signage we'd point you to a rigid PVC or polycarbonate grade instead.
Does HIPS die-cut and thermoform well?
Yes. High-impact polystyrene cuts and steel-rule dies cleanly and thermoforms at low temperatures, which is why it's popular for display components, trays, and formed packaging. Matte grades also accept screen ink without surface treatment.
How fast can you ship HIPS sheet?
Stock gauges and sheet sizes ship the same day from the nearest of our five warehouses. Custom cut-to-size and slit-to-width orders typically ship within a few business days.
